Cross Stitch chart by Heartstring Samplery
A note from the designer: I have been a fan of wool applique penny rugs for years. I love their folk art appeal, use of color, and often naïve-looking figures stitched onto their surfaces. The more whimsical the better. There was a day that I spent time with wool creating my own penny rugs, but those days are long past, as I find myself with little time for any handwork except for cross stitch. This is absolutely fine with me, as I dearly love the art of cross stitch.
This set of pin cushions, which I’ve dubbed “Penny Cushions” is my homage to that lovely old art form, and are the first in what I hope becomes a series. A series that celebrates the simple, profound, essential way of life found on the farm.
